Minister Wants Shopping Online From Ireland To Be As Cheap As It Is In Europe

Minister for jobs, Mary Mitchell O'Connor wants Geo-Blocking stopped and thinks it needs to be tackled from an EU level.

When Irish shoppers go online to shop, they can't always avail of the best deals and prices from other EU countries and can be redirected to a local site simply because of their IP address.

Mary Mitchell O'Connor is seeking to implement a regulation and wants this to change , commenting,

“I believe that the implementation of this Regulation, after it is agreed with the European Parliament, will prove to be of significant benefit to Irish and European consumers and small businesses when it comes to customers who are looking for choice and value. Many Irish people will be shopping online in the run up to Christmas and we should not be paying over the odds for goods that are cheaper from other locations.”
