A host of high profile faces will battle it out in Dublin's Intercontinental Hotel on Saturday, 8th April 2017 for Breast Cancer Ireland's Battle of the Stars. This gala event of 'strictly-styled' dance offs, lip-sync battles and group performances will raise funds for pioneering research into breast cancer.
A reunion of sorts for many of the faces who participated in Strictly Against Breast Cancer over the past three years, it will include 2FM's Eoghan McDermott, broadcaster Jenny Buckley, solicitor Gerald Kean, 'Fair City' actors Jenny Dixon and Dave O Sullivan, comedian Eric Lawlor, restaurateur and writer Ed Smith and models Thalia Heffernan and Karena Graham.
Aptly titled 'Battle of the Stars' the event will also include survivors of breast cancer, some of whom will reunite with past partners to perform on the night. New combinations will also be created in order to showcase a range of hitherto unseen singing, acting and dancing talents. Staff from Joe Duffy Group, sponsors of the event, will dance with Jenny Dixon as she lip-syncs to Taylor Swift. A celebrity judging panel, including author Emma Hannigan and rugby commentators Brent Pope and Shane Byrne will also be on hand to assess the entertainment value and of course the style on the night. MC Nicky Byrne will keep the judges on track as well as keeping over three hundred and fifty guests entertained throughout the evening.
Each of the participants will spend the next few weeks being put through a rigorous regime of rehearsals by a team of professional voice coaches, choreographers and stylists.
On arrival, guests from the world of business, finance, arts, sports, media, fashion and entertainment will be welcomed on to the pink carpet for a champagne reception followed by a four course gala dinner and entertainment. Once the winners and prizes have been announced, guests and participants will be invited to dance into the late hours to the retro sounds of The Sugar Cubes.
Mary Nolan, Group Communications Manager at Joe Duffy Group said "We are very proud to support Breast Cancer Ireland and the vital work that they do. Their pioneering research and education and awareness programmes on the importance of good breast health have and will continue to be a vital part of the nation's battle to prevent and treat breast cancer."
Tickets, which include a four course meal and entertainment, are on sale at €150 per person at www.breastcancerireland.com. In advance of the night, guests will be offered the opportunity to participate in a "Vault" prize where one lucky guest will have a key that will open a vault containing a diamond pendant which had been proudly presented by Keanes Jewellers and valued at over €2,000. Only 100 tickets will be offered in advance for this vault prize at a cost of €100 each with all funds raised going towards Breast Cancer Ireland's pioneering research and awareness programmes throughout the country.
