Sullivan's is behind the recent ale renaissance in Kilkenny and given its successful launch there this summer (amongst some of the world's most discerning ale drinkers!) the beer has now made its way into a select number of pubs in the capital.
Among the guests at the event were the British ambassador H.E. Robin Barnett, founder and chairman of Sullivan's Paul Smithwick, Dr. Eva Orsmond, stylish couple Lawson Mpame and Jade Coyle, Stuart Clark of Hotpress, travel writer Stephanie Buckley and actor Morgan C. Jones. Dan Smithwick (9th generation of the eponymous brewing family) was accompanied by his wife Sarah.
The CEO of Sullivan's Alan Quane was looking forward to heading stateside next week for the brand's launch into America; restaurateur Edward Smith was planning a festive escape while Fred and Denise Carroll were just back from seeing the northern lights in Iceland.
Fancy Trying Sullivan's? Here's where:
- Davy Byrne's, Lemon & Duke, The Old Stand, The Exchequer (city centre)
- East Side Tavern, the Sugar Club, and the Stone Leaf (Leeson St. area)
The first beer from the revived Sullivan's Brewing Company is Maltings Red Ale (4% abv). It's refreshingly balanced, ruby tinted classic Irish ale with a depth of malt flavour giving rich biscuit and gentle caramel notes.
